Casa Tarnava / Bucharest
The brief was to extend a small one-storey semidetached house to accommodate the living requirements of a family whilst retaining the Romanian Art Nouveau architectural proportions present in the original building. The house was transformed into an open plan living space on the ground floor with a study and two bedrooms on the first floor and a self contained loft apartment for a teenager. The original Art Nouveau portico and entrance were both emphasised by creating a loggia mirroring its architectural elements to the first floor.
